What's New For the 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is similar to its most recent predecessor in terms of performance, style, and technology. There have been a few changes intended to make the ride a bit smoother. The side glass is now a bit thicker, there's a little more insulation in the cabin, and the suspension have been slightly enhanced. The result is that the road noise is quieter and the experiences on the road are not so bumpy. With the engine, there's been an effort to make the truck more responsive. While the power has remained steady, a few tweaks have allowed the power to be more accessible across the rpm range, providing for more responsive handling at all speeds.

2019 Toyota Tacoma High-Tech Trims & Features

There are four main grades: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road. They each come with different trim packages so that you can customize your truck. For example, you can select from a 4x2 or 4x4 set up and choose to get an extended bed or double cab. The SR and SR5 are on the more basic side of things, whereas at the TRD Sport level, the customizations start to shine through. LED running lights start the sport level, as does the deck-mounted AC power outlet and the machined contrast alloy wheels. The SR has a dark gray grille, color-keyed rear bumper, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, a manual day/night rearview mirror, and 16" styled steel wheels. The SR has an auto dimming rearview mirror, a leather-trimmed tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a charcoal grille, chrome rear bumper, and 16" silver alloy wheels.

At the higher end of the spectrum are the Tacoma Limited and Tacoma TRD Pro. The Limited comes with leather-trimmed seats, a smart key system with push button start, heated power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators, front dual zone automatic climate control, a deck rail system, and the Entune Premium JBL audio with integrated navigation. The TRD PRO comes with leather-trimmed seats with headrest logo, Entune Premium audio with navigation, and a heritage-inspired TOYOTA front grille. Both come with Qi wireless smartphone charging, LED daytime running lights, three USB ports, and power tilt/slide moonroof with sliding sunshade.

2019 Toyota Tacoma is Built to Perform

2019 Toyota Tacoma Exterior FrontMost of the trucks are built with a 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson-cycle engine that produces 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. These engines use direct-injection and Variable Valve Timing (intelligent Wide) for efficiency. The basic 4x2 Tacoma SR runs on a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that has 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.

More Standard Safety Equipment

2019 Toyota Tacoma Exterior RearIncluded with the Tacoma is the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of features. They use sensors located throughout the vehicle to help drivers avoid collisions. The pre-collision system can detect pedestrians in the truck's anticipated path and then warn the driver and possibly apply emergency brakes if the situation calls for it. A similar alert system is the lane departure warning. Sway control helps keep the truck under control, which is important especially when hauling heavy loads. Automatic high beams can brighten up the road in low light and low traffic conditions, and adaptive cruise control allows you to stay under a set speed and maintain the right distance from the car in front of you. This can be a useful element in stop-and-go traffic.
